FabIndia Neem Tulsi Mud Pack - Product Review !

Hi Friends !! 

Our Skin needs regular maintenance and a lot of care , specially when you are going through a bad skin phase .. like acne , de-pigmentation , dry patches , patchy skin and many more issues due to hormonal changes or other environmental affecting issues.

There is a constant degradation and re-generation / skin renewal process that happens naturally , and by using the right products you can make a huge difference in maintaining that cycle.

Since I faced cystic acne issues , my dermatologist strongly suggested me to stop going for facials and go ahead with natural and organic based products to get the skin related issues resolved slowly after the acne is treated.I eventually started exploring different products that could help my skin back in form and that's where I found the Neem Tulsi Mud Pack by FabIndia.

Mud packs basically help in reducing the pore size and tighten the pores , they are capable of removing that extra gunk that we accumulate on daily basis and thereby reduces the pimples.

Fabindia's products are natural, craft based, contemporary, and affordable.They do not test their products on animals and are inclined towards natural and organic products.

Fabindia Neem Tulsi Face Pack helps to tighten pores and purify skin. A perfect blend of Neem, Tulsi and Mulatni Mitti (Fuller's earth)makes sure to clean the skin without drying the skin. Ideal for oily skin as Multani Mitti in it helps removes the excess secretion of oil, Neem along with Tulsi in Fabindia Neem Tulsi Face Pack helps to remove the impurities from the skin keep the skin clean and preventing pimples.

How does it Look and smell like ?: 

Packaging:

• Packaging is quite simple , it comes in a typical plastic tumbler with a screw cap .An additional lid  is provided to restrict the mud pack to flow out.
• The tumbler is decorated with simple yet pretty sticker (leafy pattern , to be specific) which makes the packaging really cute.
• The sticker has all the relevant details about the product that you can refer to for guidance.
• It has a very pleasant smell that is not over powering on application.

Texture:

• The texture is very smooth which helps to spread it evenly.
• The consistency of the mud pack is neither too runny nor too solid which aids in evenly spreading it.
• The color is dominated by it's primary ingredient i.e fuller's earth , so its light brown .. beige kind of color.
• There are visible chunks of Neem leaves in the mud pack which provides the goodness of Neem.
• The Tulsi oil in the mud pack helps to calm down the skin and helps to fights any infections.
• Time to wash out the mud pack from face depends on how thick layer have you put on your face.Usually you will know that the product has washed out when it stops giving the slippery feel on your face. 
• Packaging is sturdy and travel friendly.However sometimes the mud pack moves inside the tumbler while travelling, so when you open it the cap becomes quiet messy.It could have been better to have it in tube rather than tumblers , but then FabIndia has this consistent packaging throughout their other products , so you just have to live with it. :) 

 How I like to use this : 

I wash my face with plain water and partially pat it dry , so that there is still some water remnants on my face and its not utmost dry as this helps spreading the mud pack evenly.
Then I take a spatula and take some product on my fingertips and start massaging on my face and spread it evenly avoiding the eye area , hair follicles (yes had a bizarre experience of the mud pack sticking to my hair ) and  lips.
I apply a thin layer as I feel that is sufficient for my skin , else it tends to get very dry after I wash it out.Keep it for a good 10 minutes , it usually dries up quick as compared to other mud packs available.It doesn't feel to stretch my skin while it is drying , so that's comforting in a way.
Final step is to wash it off with plain water till the slippery feel vanishes.Pat dry and follow it up with my favorite face cream.
Usually I feel that it is little drying so using moisturizer is kind of mandatory step for me .

What Did I like about this product ?:

• It tightens the pore and reduce pore size which I desperately needed after suffering from cystic acne.
• Neem and Tulsi are excellent purifying agents for the skin.
• One tumbler lasts for almost 2 -3 months depending on frequency of usage.I prefer using twice a week.
• It successfully removes all gunk and excess oil and skin is more clearer.
• I sometimes use it for spot treatment , however the results are not so awesome but it works slowly on the spots.
• It's organic which I prefer the most.
• Packaging is simple yet elegant , sturdy and travel friendly.

What did I dislike about this product:

• It makes the skin dry , so idealistic only for oily skin.
• It tingles for 2-3 mins .If you are someone with sensitive skin then I will recommend a patch test before you apply on your face.
• It didn't do any good to my existing acne.
• It does not come with a spatula , digging your fingers in the product and using it is unhygienic and can cause more infections for sensitive skin.

Recommended to use ?? 

Yes , opting for mud pack twice a week is much better way towards skin care routine rather than going for regular costly facials.So I will definitely recommend to use this one.

Kajal is one of the most needed cosmetic for me..I've been addicted to it from a long long time now .. Mostly when I don't apply kajal I end up looking sick with sunken eyes and everyone around me starts asking if I am sick .. :( .. so I am a religious user of kajal and keep trying different brands and colors available.

So....I found this kajal during online shopping on a sale.. from one of my favourite brands L'Oreal paris Kajal Magique BOLD which is a newer and enhanced version of its previous kajal magique.. and thought that it would be a nice pick as my older kajal was already on the verge of getting over. Let's jump right into the review ..

• It's a zed black , sleek pen like kajal with the brand details imprinted in Gold .. 
• Roll the pen to get the kajal stick out according to need.
• The cap fits in perfectly making it very convenient to travel along without any mess.
• Packaging is sturdy and travel friendly.

Color /Swatch:

• I bought a standard black , which is absolute zed black.
• It is highly pigmented , no complaints about that..
• The swatch is available in the image above.

Texture:

• The texture is smooth , it is not very creamy but glides perfectly and doesn't smudge.I mostly do not prefer wearing very creamy kajal as it tends to smudge and budge out.This one has the right creaminess needed.
• The application is convenient and hygienic.
• Just one or two strokes are sufficient for  a perfect waterline and even eye liner.

 How I like to use this : 

I usually use it on my waterline .. I just remove the cap and roll the kajal pencil till i get appropriate tip length and glide it over my waterline .. usually 2 strokes are more than enough to have an intense line.It stays for like good 7 hours ..in fact more . I never feel the need to reapply it throughout the day in office...it starts fading out gracefully , but you will still visible kajal on your waterline.. On my lazy days when I don't feel like using my liquid eyeliner , this product comes very handy .. I can comfortably draw an eyeliner with this which lasts almost the whole day.It is smudge proof and water resistant .The kajal doesn't even move slightly if I face wash or sweat.It in fact is a huge task to remove it at bed time. Only a proper makeup remover can manage to get this off ..

What Did I like about this product ?:

• Highly Pigmented.It claims to have 25% Bold pigmentation , and I coudn't agree more.
• Smudge Proof .. I am so glad that it really doesn't smudge at all. 
• Water Proof.
• It's formula contains 2X Vitamin E.
• Stays for almost 8 hours or more .
• It makes my eyes look fuller.
• Glides Easily and perfect creamy consistency.
• Ophthalmologically Tested.
• Suitable For Contact Lens
• Travel friendly.
• Very convenient and hygienic application.
• Luxurious and  sturdy Packaging.
• One or two strokes are enough for one intense line.
• Can be used as an eyeliner too.
• Doesn't itch or irritate or make my eyes watery.

What did I dislike about this product:

The only painful part is removing it with a makeup remover.It takes a good amount of makeup remover to get it completely removed , and yet some traces remain.I would not even say its a dislike cos afterall the kajal claims to stay for 14 hours , so you obviously have to take some pain to remove it.Apart from this .. No other dislikes as such .. 

Recommended to use?

Yes , I am an absolute fan of this kajal , as I have an hectic office work schedule which doesn't permit me for regular touch ups , so I don't get time to re-apply the kajal time and again .. so I guess I have a solution to my problem now !

Final Take & Rating !! : 

I don't think I can make it any more obvious .. I absolutely loved it

EVA Fresh Lips Fresh Mint Moisturising Lip Balm - Product Review !

Hi Friends !! 

I suddenly have developed liking of things that tingle :p .. may be its tea tree effect .. but these days I am always keen in buying stuff that has cooling or tingling effects .. be it body wash , face wash or anything else .. Like so .. I bought Eva Fresh Lips lip balm only for the fact that it claimed to have mint flavor which I assumed would give me tingles :) 


So if you wanna know my experience with the product then keep on reading !!

How does it Look and smell like ?: 

Packaging :

• This lip balm comes in a very cool ice blue , aqua colored cap and a white body, it has the mechanism like a lipstick , packaged into a cardboard cover with various details over it.In fact a lotttttt of details that you would possibly not care to read :P
• Overall packaging looks very fresh and gives a summer feel to it.
• Packaging is sturdy and travel friendly.

Color :

• The lip balm is white in color , but clear on application .
• It is not tinted lip balm and doesn't leave a white cast on application.
• It gives the lips a very nice sheen.

Fragrance/Taste:

• It has a very sweet and mild mint-like fragrance , which is expected :P...but it vanishes within 5 minutes or so , so sensitive noses will not mind using it.. however i would have preferred the smell to stay for little longer.
• It gives the right amount of tingles on application.. neither too much nor too less , just the right amount that you would need.
• It has a sheen look to it on application and it will appear like a gloss on lips , not a good base for matte lipstick.
• Doesn't taste anything prominent.

Texture:

• The texture is smooth , the chap-stick is neither too thick nor thin.
• The application is convenient and hygienic.
• It glides on smoothly and evenly.
• Just one or two swipes are sufficient.
• It is not very hydrating , so needs reapplication in say every 2 hours or so.

 How to Use this Product? :

Its simple .. just open the blue cap and use it like a chap stick. Apply one or two swipes and you are done !..It glides very well .. and is hassle free.

• Tint free and mild fragrance.
• One or two swipes are enough for one application.
• Nice Variants available.
• Quiet detailing is available on the packaging.

What did I dislike about this product:

• If it is used under a matte lipstick , it will tend to make it glossy, so was unable to use it under a matte lipstick.
• I wished that the fragrance could last a little longer. 

Recommended to use?

Yes , I feel for a price like that it's worth a try.I may consider purchasing other variants as well.

Final Take & Rating !! : 

Well this is my first mint lip balm , as I always prefer going for either strawberry or other fruity lip balms available in the market,so the experience was good enough. In fact I m more keen on buying minty lip balms now as the tingles felt nice specially during summers.

As mentioned in my last blog .. I will be reviewing my exfoliating products one by one in my upcoming blogs .. One of them being Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Scrub .I usually prefer using it on my face and neck ...
The product claims that it is specially formulated to give you clear, problem-free skin, this scrub works with a dual exfoliation and purifying action. Neem, well-known for its purifying and antibacterial properties, kills problem-causing bacteria. Combined with exfoliating Apricot granules, it gently scrubs away blackheads, dead skin cells and embedded impurities, leaving your skin, soft, clear, refreshed and problem-free.

Without any further ado let's get started with the product review! 

Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Scrub

Which Brand is it ?? : 

The Himalaya Drug Company was founded with a clear vision to bring Ayurveda to society in a contemporary form and to unravel the mystery behind the 5,000 year old system of medicine. This included referring to ancient ayurvedic texts, selecting indigenous herbs and subjecting the formulations to modern pharmacological, toxicological and safety tests to create new drugs and therapies and products.They use minimal chemicals and have wide range of products available in organic formulations.

 Neem is an excellent skin care ingredient known for its antibacterial properties. It improves general skin health and immunity, combating bacterial infections such as acne, boils and ulcers. Neem tackles bacteria from the root and prevents the recurrence of pimples and blemishes. 

Apricot granules gently exfoliate dead skin cells, to bring out your skin's natural glow

How does it Look and smell like ?: 

• This comes in a typical white tube like all most of the other products of Himalaya range with a green colored flip cap.
• On opening the flip cap you will see a medium sized nozzle to dispense the product (refer to the image shown above).
• The scrub is a white , cream-like based consistency with small but visible green and beige colored granules of neem and apricot which do the real work of exfoliation.
• It spreads well and evenly.
• There is detailing on the tube regarding the product and its usage.
• It has a mild fragrance.
• 2 pea size product is enough to cover neck and face.
• Packaging is sturdy and travel friendly.

 How to use this product ? :

I usually use face wash first , considering that my skin is oily , if you have dry or normal skin you may use it directly, seeing the creamy consistency I was a little skeptical of whether it will be able to remove the gunk or not ..so I used face wash , you basically need to moisten the face , take about 2 pea sized quantity on your hands and massage all over face and neck , avoiding the delicate eye area. Gently massage in upward circular motion for good 1-2 minutes depending on how much u want to exfoliate ..don't over do it .. let the small granules work on your skin and let the product work on your skin for another 1-2 minutes .Wash off and pat dry. I mostly don't find the need to moisturise my face after this , again this depends on individual's skin type... cos the formula is creamy.However no new breakouts occurred on my face after using it.

What Did I like about this product ?:

• It is the most efficient and inexpensive way of exfoliating face  and neck .
• Removes impurities and dead skin cells. 
• It cleanses excess oil from the skin's surface, which is the root cause of acne. 
• The scrub is blended with the goodness of Neem, which clears blackheads and acne, and Apricot, which hydrates the skin. The natural ingredients cleanse, nourish and moisturize your skin to make it soft, fresh and radiant.
• It helped me getting smooth skin.
• Travel friendly.
• Neat and sturdy Packaging.
• Inexpensive as compared to the quality you get.
• One tube , if used twice a week goes upto 3 months.

What did I dislike about this product:

• I felt that the consistency could have been more thicker and with more saturated exfoliating beads so as to give a better result.however the current consistency is also workable.
• Also the beads should have been a little bit more granulated , the bigger beads are sometimes difficult to work on the skin. 

Recommended to use?

Yes , I feel for a price like that it's worth a try.I may consider repurchasing it , as my tube is already over.

Final Take and Rating !! 

I could say that this scrub does its primary job of  exfoliating the skin by removing dead skins with apricot granules and with the goodness of neem to prevent acne.After using this I ended up having a smooth skin and it's rather inexpensive as compared to most of the other scrubs out there in the market.No new breakouts or zits so its safe to be used.

Rating would be : 4/5

Forever 21 Exfoliating Gloves , Product Review

Today I am going to review a product that is actually related to skin care routine , but we do not use it on everyday basis.. we usually use it once or max twice a week.It is "Exfoliation" !!

Exfoliating skin is a weekly process but is an essential step to having a better skin as exfoliation helps to remove dead skin.

Exfoliation involves the removal of the oldest dead skin cells on the skin's outermost surface. Exfoliation is involved in the process of all facials, during microdermabrasion or chemical peels at medical spas. 
Exfoliation can be achieved through mechanical or chemical means.If you are someone who prefers exfoliating your skin at home like I do then please keep on reading.

So far , I have been using loofahs , pumice stones and other scrubbing agents and products to exfoliate my skin available in the market.Recently , I happened to find exfoliating gloves while shopping at Forever 21 store , which I will be reviewing now.Other exfoliating products that I use for face and body will review in separate blog.

Now that you know why we need skin exfoliation , let's jump right into the review !!

Forever 21 Exfoliating Gloves.

Which Brand is it ?? : 

Forever 21 is an American chain of fast fashion retailers with its headquarters in Los Angeles and has grown to sell their clothing lines Forever 21, XXI Forever, Love 21, and Heritage in over 600 stores in the Americas, Asia, the Middle East, and the UK.

More than 60% of its apparel is manufactured in China.The clothing ages from toddler to grownup, for kids and adults. Forever 21 is known as the 5th largest specialty retailer in the United States.

 I am very regular at Forever21 and most of the times I like the clothes there , like..most of the time .. However when i explored their accessories section I found so many things which were relatively inexpensive as found in other stores.These affordable accessories are good in quality and lasts longer.

How does it Look like ?: 

Exfoliating Gloves.

• Forever 21 exfoliating gloves come in a Bright pink colored hand gloves package in  a silver sealed packages.
• The gloves are stretchable and fit in perfectly according to different hand size.
• The material is coarsely made so as to help exfoliate the skin , it basically acts like a scrubbing agent.

 How to Use this Product? :

This is the simplest one . . just wear these pinkies .. pour your favorite body wash , rub your hands to create some lather and start rubbing on your body.It will give you a comfortable scrub which is not harsh on the skin and you end up getting a smooth skin. In fact .. a very very smooth skin.. !

How much does it Cost? !! :

They come for INR 129/- and it is available at  Forever21 stores as well as online shopping sites.

What Did I like about this product ?:

• Its most efficient way of exfoliating skin as compared to loofahs.
• It helped me getting a very very smooth skin.
• Its stretchable and fits on hands perfectly.
• Its porous and dries up quickly.
• Material is sturdy.
• Travel friendly.
• Neat Packaging.
• Inexpensive as compared to the quality you get.

What did I dislike about this product:

Nothing as such .. I absolutely loved using it and will repurchase.

Recommended to use?

Yes , I am in heads over heels in love with the end result after using these gloves.I wish there were some color variants available though.

Final Take & Rating !! : 

Well , I guess it is much understood that after using this I ended up having a very smooth skin and I really really really loved these pinkies.. excellent an most convenient way of getting rid of dead skin.Most easy to use and so inexpensive.Your skin will end up feeling smooth and lively.

Another Oriflame product review from the Love Nature series .. Its the Oriflame Sweden Love Nature Face Toner Tea Tree.

Before I jump into the product specific details let me first explain of what a toner is and why is it needed.. For all those who are unaware of its importance please keep on reading for more details.. 

Toner basically  refers to a lotion or wash designed to cleanse the skin and shrink the appearance of pores, usually used on the face. Toners can be applied to the skin in different ways:On damp cotton wool. (This is the most frequently used method.),Spraying onto the face,By applying a tonic gauze facial mask—a piece of gauze is covered with toner and left on the face for a few minutes. 

Toner basically gives the following benefits :

1. It Shrinks skin pores : Applying a small amount of toner to a soft cotton ball or pad and gently blotting and wiping your face with it will remove oil and give the appearance of smaller pores.
2. It maintains the skin's PH Balance:Our skin is naturally acidic, normally with a pH balance of between five and six. After cleansing, due to the alkaline nature of soap, the pH balance of skin gets disturbed. When this happens your skin needs to work overtime to restore the balance (and that may result in oil), but using a toner helps to restore this balance quickly.
3. It adds a layer of protection:Toners can help close pores and tighten cell gaps after cleansing, thus reducing the penetration of impurities and environmental contaminants into the skin. It can even protect and remove chlorine and minerals present in tap water.
4. It moisturizes:Some toners are humectants, which means that they help to bind moisture to the skin.

How does it Look and Smell like ?:

• This comes in a transparent plastic bottle with white screw cap and another cap with a small dispensing hole as shown in image above.
• The consistency is watery , liquid and running.
• The toner is light green in color and has mild fragrance that lasts for sometime.
• Gives a little oily feeling initially till it gets absorbed in the skin.
• Bottle has a neat sticker with all the details about the product.
• Penetrates and gets absorbed in the skin easily.
• If you feel some tingling sensation , do not worry its just the tea tree oil working on your skin.The tingling is mild and will fade away.
• Gives a cooling effect on the skin and helps calm the acne.It reduces the redness of the skin too and reduces the skin pore size.

 How to Use this Product? :

I usually start off with cleaning my face with a face wash , then take few drops of the toner on a cotton pad and swipe it on my face,followed by other products like a moisturizer and sunscreen on top.

My Experience with this toner : 

I have been using this for almost a month now every morning and night as part of my skin care routine. My acne has relatively reduced and the skin looks more tighter.The product claims to reduce the pore size , however it takes time for this process to occur so you need to be very patient as this product takes time to show its effects.
The toner when applied seems to make the skin little oily but the oiliness goes off after it gets completely absorbed into the skin.
It prepares the skin for the application of the moisturizer.

It gives better results when used with the same range of face wash and face cream i.e Oriflame's Sweden Love Nature series.

How much does it Cost? !! :

150ml is for INR 349/- and it is available at  Oriflame (You can check with Oriflame consultant) and on ebay at discounted price.

What Did I like about this product ?:

• Its a very light weight , Hydrating , non-greasy toner.
• It helped me in reducing the skin pores which were visible after the acne has appeared.
• It has goodness of tea tree oil which has benefits of its own.
• Gets absorbed well.
• Fragrance is mild.
• Suitable for oily to combination skin.
• Provides a base and prepares the skin for the moisturizer.
• Travel friendly.
• Neat Packaging.

What did I dislike about this product:

• It gives mild tingles , some may find that irritating.
• If you are someone who has very sensitive skin , then I suggest doing a patch test on you skin first.
• It contains alcohol.

Recommended to use?

Yes , I do recommend to use this product specially if you have issues with acne and breakouts.It is perfect for oily to combination skin.

Final Take & Rating !! : 

I think it was a good experience using this toner, it helped me with most of the problematic areas and best part was there were no new breakouts on my skin.It fairly reduced the skin pores specially on those areas where I had acne initially and the acne had gone leaving a visible pore behind.It works best when used with same range products (face wash and face cream).

Rating would be : 4/5  (-1 for the fact that it contains alcohol).
